AASTMT's Innovative Pathways to Primary School Teaching Qualifications

The Arab Academy for Science & Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) proudly boasts a significant achievement, with approximately 4060 graduates who have earned qualifications enabling them to teach at the primary school level. It's important to note that AASTMT does not have a dedicated College of Education. Instead, this substantial number primarily comprises graduates from the College of Humanities who have gained expertise in teaching English as a foreign language, particularly through the Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) program.

Furthermore, AASTMT offers a variety of courses designed to equip students for primary school teaching, with a focus on programs offered by the College of Computing and Engineering. These courses cover a broad range of subjects, including calculus, physics, computer science, English for specific purposes, business fundamentals, communication skills, and more.

In addition to this, the College of Language and Communication at AASTMT provides English Language Teacher Training Certificates (ELTTC), which are officially endorsed by the University of Leicester in the UK.


AASTMT also embraces its social corporate responsibility through its Community Service and Continuing Education initiatives. These programs play an integral role in preparing students for primary school teaching by offering a diverse array of courses and training opportunities. As a Cambridge Authorized Testing and Preparation Centre (EG230), the I.E.C not only conducts Cambridge exams but also collaborates with IDP Australia for IELTS exams and administers the Occupational English Test (OET) in both Alexandria and Cairo. Notably, the center's success in upholding international standards is a testament to its commitment to excellence. The Cambridge Authorized Testing and Preparation Centre covers exams catering to young learners, schools, adults, business professionals, and individuals pursuing teaching qualifications. Through international English Exam Preparation courses aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and the Cambridge Summer School program, the center ensures comprehensive support for candidates preparing for various assessments. Furthermore, the I.E.C facilitates the CELTA course, an introductory program designed to elevate English language teaching to a professional level, providing participants with practical skills and face-to-face teaching experience. Widely recognized globally, CELTA serves as a robust foundation for English language educators, aligning with AASMT's dedication to fostering skilled and qualified teaching professionals.
