Race to Zero AASTMT Initiative
Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport participate in Race to Zero Campaign: Race to Zero is a global campaign to rally leadership and support from businesses, cities, regions, investors for a healthy, resilient, zero-carbon recovery that prevents future threats, creates decent jobs, and unlocks inclusive, sustainable growth.
Race to Zero Campaign mobilizes a coalition of leading net zero initiatives by 2050 at the latest, representing cities, regions, businesses, the biggest investors, and universities and colleges.
Steps to implement the Campaign:
1. Pledge: Pledge at the head-of-organization level to reach (net)-zero in the 2040s or sooner, or by midcentury at the latest, in line with global efforts to limit warming to 1.5C.
2. Plan: Within 12 months of joining, explain what actions will be taken toward achieving both interim and longer-term pledges, especially in the short- to medium-term. Set an interim target to achieve in the next decade, which reflects a fair share of the 50% global reduction in CO2 by 2030 identified in the IPCC Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5C
3. Proceed: Take immediate action toward achieving net-zero, consistent with delivering interim targets specified.
4. Publish: Commit to report progress at least annually, including via, to the extent possible, platforms that feed into the UNFCCC Global Climate Action Portal.

Race to Zero: Race to Zero هي حملة عالمية لحشد الريادة والدعم من الشركات والمدن والمناطق والمستثمرين من أجل تعافي صحي ومرن وخالي من الكربون يمنع التهديدات المستقبلية ، وتخلق وظائف لائقة ، وتطلق العنان للنمو الشامل والمستدام.
تحشد حملة Race to Zero ائتلافًا من مبادرات صافي الصفر الرائدة بحلول عام 2050 على أبعد تقدير ، والتي تمثل المدن والمناطق والشركات وأكبر المستثمرين والجامعات والكليات.
خطوات تنفيذ الحملة:
1. التعهد: تعهد على مستوى رئيس المنظمة بالوصول (صافي) إلى الصفر في 2040 أو قبل ذلك ، أو بحلول منتصف القرن على أبعد تقدير ، بما يتماشى مع الجهود العالمية للحد من الاحترار إلى 1.5 درجة مئوية.
2. الخطة: في غضون 12 شهرًا من الانضمام ، اشرح الإجراءات التي سيتم اتخاذها لتحقيق التعهدات المؤقتة وطويلة الأجل ، خاصة على المدى القصير إلى المتوسط. حدد هدفًا مؤقتًا لتحقيقه في العقد المقبل ، والذي يعكس حصة عادلة من الانخفاض العالمي بنسبة 50٪ في ثاني أكسيد الكربون بحلول عام 2030 المحدد في التقرير الخاص للهيئة الحكومية الدولية المعنية بتغير المناخ بشأن الاحترار العالمي بمقدار 1.5 درجة مئوية.

- GIS to Serve the Sustainable Development Goals – Egypt Vision 2030

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina, in cooperation with ESRI Northeast Africa, organizes the Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Conference for the seventh consecutive year, under the title “GIS to Serve the Sustainable Development Goals – Egypt Vision 2030” on Tuesday, 14 December 2021, at 10:30 am, in the BACC Great Hall.
The Conference tackles the technologies, tools, and multiple domains of the geographical information systems, through a panel discussion and presentations that feature a number of experts and specialists in this field in Egypt. The Conference is preceded by online GIS workshops, which aim at training students on the latest technologies this particular field has reached.
Additionally, the Conference will be accompanied by an exhibition showcasing the maps that applied the geographical information systems and will include a prize-giving ceremony to honor the winners of the “Digital Maps” drawing competition, which targeted students and those with an interest in geographical information systems.

تمت مشاركة الاكاديمية العربية  في لجنة الأرصاد الجوية العربية الدائمة في جامعة الدول العربية. من بين الاجتماعات التي شاركت في مجال الجولة السادسة التي عقدت في إطار تنفيذ المشروع المشترك بين الأمانة العامة لرابطة الدول العربية وحكومة اليابان وبرنامج الأمم المتحدة الألماني تحت اللقب:
الاستجابة لتغير المناخ في المنطقة العربية: إدارة المخاطر التي تهدد أمن المياه وبناء قدرة المجتمع على مواجهتها
وهذا في الساعة 12:00 مساءً في 22 نوفمبر من عام 2021 عبر تكنولوجيا الفيديو ، وشارك أيضًا
جلسة ثلاثين -جنة الأرصاد الجوية العربية الدائمة ، والتي عقدت في مقر الأمانة العامة للجامعة

Arab academy for Science and Technology was participate as members of the Permanent Arab Meteorological Committee at the University of Arab States. Among the meetings were participating in the sixth round field that was held within the framework of  implementing the joint project between the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States and the government of Japan and the German United Nations program under the title:

The thirty -sixth session of the Permanent Arab Meteorological committee, which was held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the University
Arab countries during the period 29 November  - 2 December , 2021
