Empowering Future Generations through Renewable Energy AASTMT's GREENOLIVE Project Activities

As part of its ongoing contribution to the GREENOLIVE project, the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), through the Electrical and Control Engineering Department, continues to strengthen awareness of renewable energy, sustainability, and environmentally responsible technologies among young learners.

On 26 July 2026, the department successfully organised an Orientation Day for senior high school students and their families. The event introduced participants to the department’s academic programmes, practical learning opportunities, and renewable energy facilities that directly support the objectives of the GREENOLIVE project.

During the visit, students and their families toured several departmental laboratories and explored the technologies used in education, training, and applied research. The tour included the rooftop photovoltaic power plant, where participants learned how solar energy can be converted into electricity and integrated into buildings and energy systems. They also visited the solar water-heating emulation system, which demonstrates the use of solar thermal energy for practical heating applications.

The event provided participants with first-hand exposure to clean energy technologies and helped connect theoretical scientific concepts with real engineering applications. It also highlighted the important role of electrical and control engineers in advancing energy efficiency, reducing environmental impact, and supporting the transition toward more sustainable communities.

Through activities of this kind, AASTMT continues to support the GREENOLIVE project’s wider goals by encouraging environmental awareness, promoting renewable energy education, and inspiring school students to consider future academic and professional pathways in sustainable engineering and technology.
