RESt4GREEN Showcased at HOPE26 Workshop Advancing Circular Innovation at AASTMT Alexandria
As part of the HOPE26 Workshop: “Rethinking Resources Through a Circular Economy”, held on 31 March 2026 at AASTMT – Abukir Campus, Alexandria, an engaging and impactful presentation was delivered highlighting innovative approaches to sustainability, energy efficiency, and circular economy practices.
The session brought together a distinguished group of experts from academia, industry, and international research collaborations, fostering a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange and interdisciplinary dialogue. The workshop emphasized the critical role of circular bioeconomy, sustainable energy, and smart agricultural solutions in addressing global environmental challenges.
Within this context, a presentation on the RESt4GREEN project was delivered by Dr. Rania Assem, Associate Professor at the Electrical and Control Engineering Department, AASTMT. The presentation showcased a forward-looking initiative focused on enhancing energy efficiency and integrating renewable energy solutions in public buildings across the Mediterranean region .
The project, co-funded by the European Union, aims to bridge the gap between strategy and implementation through pilot projects, stakeholder engagement, and policy support. The presentation highlighted key challenges, including high energy consumption in buildings, limited adoption of renewable energy, and the need for behavioral change, while presenting innovative solutions such as smart energy systems, capacity building, and transnational roadmaps for sustainable development.
