Arab Women in Science: From Vision to Impact

On Saturday, December 20, 2025, the event “The Arab Women in Science Platform: From Vision to Impact” was held at the headquarters of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (Smart Village Branch). The event represents the fourth collaborative activity between the Academy and the UNESCO Regional Office for Egypt and Sudan, within the framework of efforts to empower Arab women in the fields of science.

This event is part of a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening the role of women in scientific research and innovation. It highlights the pioneering role of the AWSci Platform, the first digital platform in the region established by Arab women to support women in science.

As part of the program, a panel discussion entitled “From Challenges to Competence: Lessons from the L’Oréal–UNESCO For Women in Science Young Talents Program in Egypt” was held, with the participation of five distinguished researchers who are L’Oréal–UNESCO For Women in Science fellows in Egypt:

• Dr. Rana Issa

The session addressed the key challenges faced by female researchers throughout their scientific careers and highlighted the lessons learned from the L’Oréal–UNESCO For Women in Science Fellowship Program in Egypt. It also showcased inspiring success stories and practical experiences that support the empowerment of women in scientific research and innovation.

The Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy extends her sincere appreciation and gratitude to the participating researchers for their inspiring insights and rich experiences, which greatly enriched the discussion and enhanced awareness of the importance of empowering women in research and innovation. Their valuable contributions represent a role model for supporting the journey of Arab women toward scientific leadership.

The Dean also extends her heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the organizing committee of “The Arab Women in Science Platform: From Vision to Impact” for their outstanding efforts in preparation and organization, which contributed significantly to the success of the event and its distinguished outcome.

Furthermore, she expresses her gratitude to all supporting entities within the Academy for providing logistical and technical support, reflecting the Academy’s strong commitment to promoting the role of Arab women in science and advancing the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
