The Department of Humanities launched the "Barah - Shared Spaces" initiative to support students' mental health. Supervised by Assoc. Prof. Sarah Yahya and under the patronage of Prof. Abeer Refky, the initiative aims to provide a safe space for students to express their feelings and thoughts freely, fostering mental well-being on campus. This stems from the belief that students' mental health is fundamental for academic success and the development of balanced personalities
"Barah" is part of the larger "Hearts and Arts Initiative" and seeks to address students' internal struggles and feelings of insecurity through dialogue circles based on active listening and mutual support. The inaugural outdoor session, facilitated by Dr. Salma Sami and attended by Assoc. Prof. Marwa Adel, broke down barriers between students and faculty. This created an opportunity for sharing experiences and concerns in an environment of respect and acceptance. These spaces aim to foster a sense of belonging and encourage students to share their human journeys
