Training Ship Aida IV Makes Its First Official Visit to the Port of Algiers

The training ship Aida IV arrived at the Port of Algiers in the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, marking its first official visit to the country. The vessel is scheduled to remain in port for several days as part of its official program.

On board the vessel, H.E. Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag, President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), welcomed H.E. Mr. Abdelghani Dredi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities and Transport of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria; H.E. Ambassador Abdel Latif El-Laithy, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Algeria; Mr. Haji Mohamed, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Port of Algiers Enterprise; along with senior officials from the Algerian Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities and Transport upon the vessel's arrival.

The visit by the Secretary-General of the Ministry and the Chief Executive Officer of the Port of Algiers, attended by the Egyptian Ambassador, reflected the warm welcome extended to Aida IV and provided an opportunity to explore prospects for future cooperation. The delegation was also introduced to the advanced educational and practical training capabilities offered by the vessel in preparing and qualifying future maritime professionals.

The reception ceremony was attended by Eng. Ahmed El-Rais, Advisor to the President of AASTMT for Engineering Affairs at the Sea Training Institute; Capt. Dr. Amr Samir Nossier, Dean of the Sea Training Institute; Capt. Mohamed Shendy, Master of Aida IV; Eng. Mohamed Walid, Head of the Marine Engineering Training Department; Capt. Mamdouh Awad, Head of the Maritime Training Department; Chief Engineer Rashad Aref; and Chief Officer Karim Adam.

During the visit, Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag presented an overview of the vessel's advanced technical and educational capabilities, highlighting its state-of-the-art practical training systems designed to equip students with essential maritime competencies. The delegation was also introduced to the vessel's modern equipment and facilities dedicated to developing navigation and seamanship skills, followed by a comprehensive tour of the ship's various departments.

It is worth noting that Aida IV arrived at the Port of Algiers as part of a practical training voyage for 150 cadets, representing several countries, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Nigeria, Yemen, Kuwait, Sudan, and Egypt.
