AASTMT - Ministry of Finance of Libya's Government of National Unity “Workshop”

The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), in partnership with the Ministry of Finance of Libya's Government of National Unity (GNU) organized a workshop entitled "Towards Financial Transformation with Artificial Intelligence." The workshop will be held on 4 – 5 August, 2026, at Corinthia Tripoli Hotel in Libya.

H.E. Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag - AASTMT President, and the accompanying AASTMT delegation participated in the opening ceremony, as H.E. Mr. Rashid Abu Ghaffah - Libyan Minister of Finance, chaired over the official inauguration ceremony. As, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Libya, as well as several top officials from the Libyan and Egyptian Ministries of Finance, and His Excellency the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Libya participated in the workshop activities.

The workshop covered a number of topics, including the significance of improving the efficiency of finance personnel and setting the framework for all-encompassing financial reform. Additionally, participants underlined the importance of learning from Egypt's experience in this field and accelerating the implementation of the Government Financial Management Information System (GFMIS). The Minister also emphasized the Ministry of Finance's aim to sign cooperation agreements with the Egyptian Ministry of Finance, with the participation of AASTMT, to develop strategies and initiatives for transformation and public finance reform.
