"AASTMT" - "Alexandria Economic Court" Workshop

Within the fruitful cooperation between the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) and the Alexandria Economic Court, AASTMT College of Maritime Transport and Technology in cooperation with the Alexandria Economic Court, organized a workshop entitled: "A Judicial and Technical Perspective on Maritime Disputes in the Era of the Blue Economy". This workshop aimed to provide a platform for exchanging perspectives and experiences on contemporary maritime issues and to foster positive communication among judicial, academic, and technological professionals. As a result, this contributes to the development of professional and legal practices and supports efforts to enhance Egypt's position as a leading regional hub for maritime transport and logistics services.

The workshop was held on Sunday 7- 6- 2026, at AASTMT AbuKir Campus in Alexandria, in the presence of H.E. Counselor Dr. Raymond Malak Shenouda - President of Alex Economic Court, H.E. Counselor Sadek Abdel Salam Bilal – Former President of Alex Economic Court, and H.E. Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail – AASTMT President, in addition to the participation of Counselor, Experts and Specialists, as well as AASTMT Deputies, Advisors, Assistants, and AASTMT College of Maritime Transport and Technology Officials and Academic Staff members.

During the workshop, H.E. AASTMT President of emphasized the role of economic courts in efficiently resolving economic and commercial disputes, particularly in the maritime transport sector, and this supports Egypt's 2030 Vision for Sustainable Development. Additionally, His Excellency reaffirmed AASTMT College of maritime Transport and Technology's emphasis on training qualified professionals to satisfy the demands of the domestic and global labor market and increase its competitiveness. His Excellency underlined that AASTMT's global ranking is strengthened by its adherence to the highest quality standards and strategic connections with international institutions. In the Times Higher Education Arab University Rankings 2026, as AASTMT notably placed fourth among Egyptian universities and 51st among Arab universities. His Excellency added that collaborative efforts with the economic courts have resulted in workshops aimed at fostering dialogue among maritime experts, thus strengthening Egypt's position as a leading maritime center. In this regard, AASTMT is proud of its fruitful cooperation with several Arab sister nations through agreements and protocols with various legal, professional, and academic institutions. These partnerships have improved integration and cooperation among Arab institutions in a number of areas of shared interest, as well as facilitated the sharing of knowledge and capacity building. The Dean of AASTMT College of Maritime Transport and Technology emphasized the importance of cooperation between the academic and judicial sectors to achieve professional growth and effective justice. He commended the valuable contributions made by institutional leaders to these initiatives. He added that the diversity of issues addressed through the expert work and technical support provided to the economic courts, and reflects the complexity of disputes and the necessity of specialized technical knowledge. Additionally, he confirmed that AASTMT maintains its position as a leading hub for transport and logistics knowledge and that the area of collaboration includes economic courts in a number of significant cities. Notably, Alexandria Economic Court President commended AASTMT president for unwavering dedication to resolving the workshop's issues as well as those affecting this significant and powerful system in the country's economy. His Excellency further stated his desire for the workshop's success, which aims to improve institutional cooperation and knowledge.
