The Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) participated in the activities of the meetings of the Arab Federation of Chambers of Shipping, which included the 31st session of the Federation's Board of Directors and the 20th session of its General Assembly. The meetings were held on Thursday 11- 12- 2025, in Cairo.
The meetings were chaired by H.E. Mr. Mohamed Moselhy - Member of Parliament, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Federation of Chambers of Shipping, and Chairman of the Alexandria Chamber of Shipping, with the participation of representatives from12 Arab member states of the General Assembly, and in the presence of prominent figures and leaders in the maritime and logistics sectors across the Arab world, including: H.E. Lieutenant General Osama Rabie - Chairman of Suez Canal Authority, H.E. Ambassador Mohamed El-Ni, Secretary-General of the Council of Arab Economic Unity, H.E. Rear Admiral Dr. Ashraf El-Assal - Chairman of the Egyptian Maritime Safety Authority, H.E. Rear Admiral Abdel-Qader Darwish - Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Multipurpose Company, H.E. Mr. Walid Badr - Secretary-General of the Arab Federation of Chambers of Shipping, H.E. Mr. Elie Zakhour - First Vice President of the Arab Federation of Chambers of Shipping, in addition to the members of the Board of Directors of the Arab Federation of Chambers of Shipping, representatives of Arab and Egyptian chambers of shipping and commerce, heads of major Egyptian container shipping companies, and an elite of AASTMT officials.
During the meetings, the annual report on the Union's performance and achievements for 2025 were discussed, and the Arab Federation of Chambers of Shipping Board of Directors' annual budget was approved. Additionally, a number of specialized studies and presentations on contemporary developments in artificial intelligence and maritime transportation were presented. In order to boost the competitiveness of the Arab economy and expand the maritime system in the Arab region, focus has been placed on ongoing efforts to increase Arab maritime integration, encourage innovation, and boost the effectiveness of the maritime transport sector.
It is worth mentioning that AASTMT delegation's participation highlights AASTMT commitment to bolstering partnerships, supporting the Arab maritime transport system, and offering research and training to develop ports, supply chains, and the blue economy in light of global digital transformation and artificial intelligence trends.
