AASTMT Participation in "AI-Forward Summit 2025" in Tunisia

As part of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) commitment to supporting Arab, regional, and global efforts aimed at establishing the responsible and sustainable use of artificial intelligence technologies, and contributing to the follow-up on the implementation of the Arab Initiative for Artificial Intelligence that was adopted by the Fifth Arab Economic and Social Development Summit in May 2024, and for which the Academy prepared the official document, AASTMT participated in "AI-Forward Summit 2025" that was held from November 30 – December 2, 2025, at the Conference Palace in Tunis, under the patronage of H.E. President Kais Saied - President of the Republic of Tunisia

The summit was jointly organized by the Arab Organization for Information and Communication Technologies (AICTO) and the Tunisian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, in partnership with several leading international and regional organizations, including the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), UNESCO, the GSMA, ESCWA, the Council of Europe, the League of Arab States (LAS), the Smart Africa Alliance, the Arab Federation for Digital Economy, the Arab Federation for Internet and Communications, the National Center for Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence in the State of Palestine, and a number of other organizations, including Tunisia Telecom, Huawei, the World Bank, and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

H.E. Dr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit - Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, H.E. Eng. Sofiane Hmissi - Minister of Communication Technologies of Tunisia, and H.E. Ambassador Mohamed Ali Nafti – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, were among the high-level Arab and international leaders, decision-makers, and experts from prominent international and regional organizations involved in the fields of digitalization and artificial intelligence that participated in the summit, in addition to AASTMT high-level delegation with more than 500 participants from over 30 countries.

AASTMT delegation participated in the summit's activities, and the accompanying official events, reinforcing AASTMT role in education, research, and innovation, and its position as a crucial pillar supporting LAS efforts to enable digital transformation and develop specialized Arab capabilities in artificial intelligence. AASTMT participation demonstrated its dedication to bolstering Arab AI capabilities and expanding Arab institutions' worldwide impact. The summit focused on fostering multilateral cooperation and strengthening cross-sector partnerships in conjunction with the 20th anniversary of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) that promotes for a human-centered digital transformation and international cooperation.
