The UNESCO Regional Office in Cairo and the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) launched the Arab Women in Science Platform, on Sunday 1- 6- 2025, at AASTMT Smart Village Campus.
The Arab Women in Science Platform (AWSci) was launched, as keeping on the fact that despite the growing awareness, gender gaps in science persist. In response to these hurdles, efforts during two years of consultations with 169 women scientists across the region—including interviews, surveys, and focus sessions across four generations— were gathered to. As a result, a platform created by women for women was tested in Sudan and Egypt. The platform offers Co-mentorship, fellowships, career opportunities, capacity-building tools, and a community knowledge bank.
During the event, participants explored the platform, tested its features, and provided feedback to guide the next development phase. This initiative marks a key step toward an inclusive, equitable scientific landscape—where Arab women and girls can lead, innovate, and thrive.
