Launch of the International Conference on Maritime Logistics and Ports (ICMLP) in Malaysia

On Tuesday, September 9, 2025, the International Conference on Maritime Logistics and Ports (ICMLP) was launched under the theme *“Ports and Logistics: Future Visions and Global Challenges.”* The event is organized by the Port Training Institute of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, in cooperation with the Netherlands Maritime University College (NMUC) in Malaysia, STC NEXT International – Rotterdam, the Johor Talent Development Council, and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Malaysia (CILT). The conference is being held at the Persada International Convention Centre in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, from September 9 to 11, 2025.

The opening ceremony witnessed a high-level attendance of senior officials and stakeholders in the ports and logistics sector in Malaysia, in addition to wide international participation from specialized institutions, as well as members of the diplomatic corps and consuls from various countries.

In his recorded opening address, H.E. Prof. Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail Farag, President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, emphasized the importance of enhancing academic and professional cooperation with major international universities and institutes, contributing to the development of the global maritime transport and logistics sector.

Prof. Alaa Mahmoud Morsy, Dean of Port Training Institute and the Research and Consultation Center, also delivered a speech during the opening session, in which he stressed the significance of the conference and its themes, highlighting the institute’s role in building successful strategic partnerships with international institutions to support and advance the maritime transport industry through global conferences and workshops.

Following the inauguration, the conference sessions commenced with the participation of a distinguished group of researchers and experts from around the world, where Prof. Alaa Morsy was the keynote speaker in the first session of the opening day.

The Academy is represented by a delegation from the Institute and the Academy, headed by Prof. Alaa Morsy, alongside a number of distinguished speakers from the Academy, including Dr. Sandra Haddad, Dean of the College of International Transport and Logistics at Alamein Campus, and Dr. Islam Abdel Bari, Vice Dean of the College of International Transport and Logistics at Smart Village Campus, affirming the Academy’s active presence on the international stage in the fields of ports and logistics.
