Within the framework of its strategy to strengthen international academic cooperation, the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT) hosted Swedish director Sofia Norlin from Stockholm University of the Arts, during an official academic visit to the Faculty of Art and Design.
The visit featured the delivery of a specialized workshop in film directing for students of the Film Department, focusing on the fundamental components of cinematic practice, including visual narrative construction, scene composition, and actor direction. The workshop aimed to enhance students’ practical competencies and align their skills with contemporary international standards in filmmaking.
Furthermore, Sofia Norlin participated in the formal evaluation of students’ film projects, in the presence of an academic jury panel headed by Prof. Dr. Hala Barakat, Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design, and comprising members of the academic staff. The evaluation process was conducted in accordance with established academic and professional criteria to ensure rigor, objectivity, and quality assurance.
The outcomes of the evaluation resulted in the nomination of two students for progression to a subsequent stage of assessment, reflecting the Academy’s commitment to identifying and supporting distinguished student talent.
This visit underscores AASTMT’s dedication to advancing academic excellence, fostering international collaboration, and enriching the educational environment within the fields of film and visual arts.
