The course was convened in response to LAS directives to enhance digital transformation and develop institutional capacities, and consistent with LAS Secretary-General's initiative, "The Arab Initiative for Artificial Intelligence: Towards Technological Leadership and Sustainable Development," adopted by the Fifth Arab Economic and Social Development Summit held in Baghdad in May 2025.

The course will be held during the period from 27 – 29 April, 2026, at the League of Arab States headquarters, under the patronage of H.E. Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit - Secretary General of the League of Arab States, with the support of H.E. Ambassador Mohamed Saleh Al-Ajeeri - Assistant Secretary-General and Head of LAS Administrative and Financial Affairs Sector, and H.E. Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag - AASTMT President, and with the participation of officials, experts and specialists from the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, Arab organizations and federations, and a group of AASTMT officials.

According to the Arab Initiative for Artificial Intelligence, the importance of this course in advancing LAS objectives of institutional development and digital transformation was emphasized in the opening session. The purpose of this initiative is to unify Arab efforts to use AI to modernize government processes, promote economic integration, and promote the moral use of technology. It also highlighted LAS commitment to human capacity development. Additionally, the significance of the strategic collaboration between AASTMT and LAS was emphasized, with commendation for AASTMT President's pivotal role in fostering this institutional alliance and enhancing scientific and training cooperation between both entities. Furthermore, the program features a set of practical lectures and advanced workshops focusing on the most recent applications and uses of artificial intelligence in government management, policy formulation, data examination, and decision-making support. These sessions as presented by experts from AASTMT, will help improve the skills of the personnel at LAS General Secretariat in using advanced digital technologies for developing the framework of joint Arab action.
