The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) made significant strides in the field of urban planning at the recent World Urban Forum 12 (WUF12). Associate Professor Nancy Abdel-Moniem was a key contributor, serving as a panellist in the session "My Neighbourhood: From Global Policies to Urban Design Interventions." She shared insights on integrating the "My Neighborhood" framework into undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
In addition to this academic contribution, AASTMT faculty and students actively participated in various sessions and workshops, showcasing innovative approaches to addressing urban challenges. The presentation of the "Debatable Urbs!" game, developed in collaboration with students, was a highlight of the institution's participation. This interactive tool engages participants in discussions on climate-resilient and livable cities, fostering critical thinking and collaborative problem-solving.
Furthermore, AASTMT students excelled in the World Urban Forum عقول competition, securing second place for their innovative solutions to urban issues in Al-Manial City. This achievement underscores the institution's commitment to nurturing talented young urban planners.
Through these initiatives, AASTMT continues to contribute to the global discourse on sustainable urban development and inspire the next generation of urban planners.
