AASTMT President - Minister of Environment "Meeting"

Within the efforts of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) toward Environmental Conservation, H.E. Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag - AASTMT President met H.E. Dr. Yasmine Fouad - Egyptian Minister of Environment on Saturday 26- 10- 2024, where they discussed the flow of bilateral cooperation, future plans in various environmental fields, and supporting several environmental initiatives to improve the integration of scientific research and sustainable development.

During the meeting, H.E. Minister of Environment praised AASTMT's efforts to integrate environmental factors via educational facilities and student training. The minister emphasized the value of educational institutions and scientific research in supporting environmental efforts. Climate change, carbon reduction, trash management, plastic garbage, and medical personnel who handle medical waste were among the issues of mutual collaboration that were discussed between the two sides. It is worth noting that as part of the Climate Finance Project, AASTMT is creating a "Climate Change Information Centre" to share and make climate-related information accessible to departments. Additionally, the Ministry of Environment will start a competition for students to create an electronic application as part of its "Together to Reduce Carbon" campaign to lower carbon emissions. In addition to implementing a training program for AASTMT College of Art and Design students, where a competition will be announced for the best ideas in the transition to green industries through reusing waste, the Ministry will also support AASTMT students in recycling waste and using it in Egypt's textile industry. Moreover, H.E. AASTMT President commended the efforts made by the Ministry of Environment to integrate scientific research with national initiatives to promote economic growth, enhance environmental services, and rationalize the consumption of natural resources.
