Launch of the Largest International Training Program in Crisis Management... Over 103 Participants from 6 Arab Countries in the Crisis Management in Marine and Oil Ports program
Prof. Alaa Mahmoud Morsy, Dean of Port Training Institute & Research and Consultation Center for the Maritime Transport Sector at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, inaugurated the program “Crisis Management in Marine and Oil Ports” on the morning of Sunday, April 26, 2026. The program is organized by Port Training Institute in cooperation with the Maritime Training Institute and Simulation Center – Turkey ????????, in the presence of Mr. Ahmed Al-Batkin, Commercial Attaché of Turkey in Alexandria; Mr. Mohamed Ali Ozkan, Crisis Management Expert from the Maritime Training Institute and Simulation Center in Turkey; as well as a number of chairpersons and directors of marine and oil ports across the Arab region.
This launch comes within the framework of the institute’s commitment to enhancing the capabilities of professionals in the maritime and oil sectors in the field of crisis and emergency management, with wide participation from a large number of specialists and safety and security officials in ports and oil facilities across the Arab world.
The program brings together more than 103 participants from six Arab countries—Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Iraq, Libya, and Sudan. Participants represent diverse professional backgrounds, including port managers, safety and security managers, operations officials, environmental safety officers, and emergency management personnel. This marks the largest participation in terms of number and geographical representation for a specialized crisis management program at the Arab level.
The program runs over five consecutive days, from Sunday to Thursday, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and is delivered online. It combines in-depth scientific content with practical applications based on the latest crisis management scenarios in marine and oil ports.
The program covers key topics including the concept of crisis management; identification of potential risks and incidents in marine and oil ports; impact analysis; development of response and recovery plans; and mechanisms for communication and coordination among various entities during incidents, in addition to practical applications aligned with the latest international standards in this field.
In his opening speech, Prof. Alaa highlighted the importance of this program in preparing national cadres to effectively and professionally address emergency challenges, and in enhancing the ability of marine and oil ports to protect human, physical, and environmental assets while ensuring operational continuity and safety under the most challenging conditions.
He also expressed his appreciation to the participants from the Arab countries, wishing them a fruitful training experience that contributes to improving preventive and response performance within their organizations. He further emphasized the importance of strengthening effective cooperation between the institute and national institutions in training and professional development in crisis management.
The “Crisis Management in Marine and Oil Ports” program aims to equip participants with practical tools and leadership skills necessary to handle the most critical scenarios—from risk analysis and incident management to recovery planning—thereby contributing to building an integrated system for safe and efficient management in Arab marine and oil ports.
