In a step that reflects the advanced regional and international standing of the Port Training Institute (PTI), the General Assembly Meeting of the Mediterranean Ports Association (MEDPorts) was held today, Wednesday, 21 January 2026, witnessing a number of significant developments and notable achievements.
The Association announced the selection of Prof. Alaa Morsy, Dean of Port Training Institute & Maritime Research & Consultation Center, AASTMT, as Chair of the Training and International Cooperation Committee for a two-year term, succeeding the Port of Valencia. This new achievement reflects the strong confidence in his expertise and his pivotal role in capacity building and human resources development in the ports sector.
During the meeting, the presidency of the MEDPorts Association was officially transferred to Malta Free Port, within the framework of strengthening partnerships and exchanging expertise among member ports.
Prof. Alaa Morsy presented clear and ambitious plans aligned with the objectives of the Committee, affirming his commitment to enhancing training programs, supporting joint cooperation, and developing professional competencies within the MEDPorts network, thereby contributing to improved performance efficiency and the achievement of sustainable development for Mediterranean ports.
This achievement also underscores the pioneering role of the Port Training Institute as an accredited regional center and its capability to effectively represent Arab training institutions in international forums.
