The Economic sector of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States - organized a seminar through the online platform (zoom application) that entitled: "The effects and repercussions of Corona crisis on labor market - high rates of unemployment and poverty in the Arab region", on Wednesday 24- 6- 2020, under the patronage of the League of Arab States and the supervision and presence of H.E Ambassador Dr. Kamal Hassan Ali - League of Arab States Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Affairs, and H.E Consultant Mohamed Khair - Director of Arab organizations and unions of the Secretariat General of the League of Arab States, with the participation of H.E Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail – President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), as well as H.E Directors and Presidents of Arab organizations and unions.During the League of Arab States Seminar, several topics were discussed related to the repercussions of Corona crisis on labor market, the activation of social protection programs in the Arab region to fight poverty and reduce unemployment, the role of development projects and entrepreneurship as an effective model for employing Arab youth in facing the crisis repercussions, the priorities and plans to deal with the crisis and how to provide concessional financing for small and medium enterprises, the role of Arab women in light of the Corona crisis, the appropriate measures towards those who lost their jobs as a result of this pandemic, the role of trade union and workers organizations to deal with the Corona crisis and their effects on labor and labor issues, and the role of international organizations in facing the Corona crisis, with the global solidarity to deal with its implications.
