The Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport, in cooperation with the National Council for Women, is organizing the forum "She… The Driver of Sustainability" on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the Academy’s main headquarters in Abu Qir, Alexandria. The forum will be honored by the presence of Her Excellency Counselor Amal Ammar, President of the National Council for Women.
The forum is organized within the framework of implementing the HEEFTA project, funded by the Interreg NEXT MED program, and coincides with the celebration of International Women’s Day. This reaffirms the Academy’s commitment to supporting women’s empowerment and enhancing their role as essential partners in achieving sustainable development.
The forum will witness the attendance of an elite group of prominent Egyptian women leaders, including:
Her Excellency Dr. Jacqueline Azer, Governor of Beheira
Her Excellency Ambassador Nabila Makram Abdel Shahid, Head of the Technical Secretariat of the National Alliance for Civil and Development Work and former Minister of State for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs
Her Excellency Professor Dr. Hind Hanafy, former President of Alexandria University.
The forum also includes a special session titled "She Leads in Universities," organized by the Youth Leaders Foundation, and honored by the presence of His Excellency MP Ahmed Fathy, Secretary-General of the Foundation and member of the House of Representatives. The session aims to support and empower female students and build young women’s leadership within universities.
Accompanying the forum’s events is an exhibition for women entrepreneurs, affiliated with both the Academy’s Entrepreneurship Center and the National Council for Women, to highlight successful models of women in entrepreneurship and innovation.
This forum reaffirms the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport’s belief that women’s empowerment is a core pillar of its institutional strategy—not merely a slogan. During the main session, the Academy will showcase distinguished models of academic leadership and its female professors, reflecting women’s success stories within the educational institution.
The forum also seeks to contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 5 (Gender Equality), Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), with a focus on quality education and enhancing its societal impact.
