Aly Owida is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Industrial and Management Engineering (IME) at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), which is an ABET and IET accredited program of study since 2010. Dr. Owida has received his PhD in Operations and Supply Chain Management from University of Limerick, Ireland. His research work aim was to review and analyze the current existing contracting activities for outsourcing after-sales field repair services with a specific focus on the Middle Eastern emerging markets, and to assess the potential for improving after-sales field repair services contracting through developing continuous improvement approach to support service contracting in both established and emerging markets. He has previously been appointed as a Teaching Assistant and an Assistant Lecturer at IME and has been working in the academic field of teaching and research since graduation in 2007. He has a considerable experience in teaching Operations Research and Management Science, Project Management, Engineering Economy, and Supply Chain Management. He has supported administrative and academic advising services at IME such as quality coordination, status report development, academic advising, website improving, and timetabling and scheduling. Also, he has been involved in the accreditation process of industrial engineering required by ISO, ABET, IET, National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Egypt, and the Supreme Council of Universities in Egypt. Dr. Owida research interests lies in the modelling, analysis, and performance improvement of industrial systems and business processes within the area of operations and supply chain management, including manufacturing and service supply chains. He is interested in the use of discrete-event simulation, business process modelling and business process simulation, and optimization techniques. Other areas of interest include field service management, supplier Selection and contracting in service supply chains, scheduling of projects and industrial systems, supply chain risk management and disruption management, supply chain resilience, supply chain sustainability, and agri-food supply chains transportation and logistics.
