Biography
Dr. Maher Al-Greer is a highly accomplished academic and researcher in electrical, electronics, and control engineering, with expertise in advanced control systems, battery management, power electronics, fault detection and condition monitoring, AI and signal processing. He holds a PhD in the control of power electronic converters from Newcastle University, UK (2012), an MSc in Computer Engineering (2005) in fuzzy control for industrial applications, and a BSc in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (1999), both from the University of Mosul, Iraq.
Before joining Teesside University, Dr. Al-Greer worked as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at Newcastle University's School of Engineering. He joined Teesside in 2017 as a Senior Lecturer in Electrical Engineering and currently serves as an Associate Professor.
Dr. Al-Greer has authored over 85 peer-reviewed publications, supervised over 12 Phd students, and secured research funding as both principal and co-investigator from major organisations such as UKRI, Innovate UK, the British Council, the Royal Academy of Engineering, and Lloyd’s Register Foundation.
He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), a Visiting Professor at Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) and has delivered more than 22 keynotes and talks at national and international conferences.
