The Arab Academy Continues Its Leadership in Social Responsibility and Qualifies 56 Young People for the Labor Market in Cooperation with UNHCR

In line with its pioneering role as a beacon of knowledge in the region, and in fulfillment of its social responsibility toward supporting the economy and serving the community, the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) celebrated the graduation of 56 trainees under the “Skills Development for Livelihoods” project, implemented in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

A National Role and Strategic Vision
In a speech delivered on behalf of H.E. Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail Farag, President of the Academy, Prof. Dr. Alfaisal Abdelhameed Mohamed, Deputy Manager of the South Valley Branch for Executive Affairs, emphasized that the Academy mobilizes all its capabilities to support the Egyptian state’s efforts in caring for guests of Egypt. He stressed that the Academy will continue to serve as a “safety valve” and a trusted platform for future international initiatives aimed at human development and skills enhancement.

International Recognition of the Academy’s Standing
For his part, Mr. ERAJ IMOMBERDIEV, Deputy Representative at UNHCR, praised the Academy’s distinguished level in a speech delivered online, stating:
“I thank the Egyptian government for its warm hospitality, and I extend my gratitude to the Arab Academy (AASTMT) for its valuable work. This training will help refugees become active contributors to society and the local economy.”

Excellence in Implementation: Industry Service Complex
The project was managed and implemented by the Academy’s Industry Service Complex (ISC) through the Technical and Vocational Institute. Prof. Dr. Khaled El-Kilany, Dean of the Complex, reviewed the project phases and explained how the laboratories and workshops at the Abu Qir campus were utilized to equip trainees with the technical skills required by the labor market, such as welding, electricity, occupational safety, and automotive mechanics.

High-Level Attendance 
The ceremony was attended by a distinguished group of Academy and UNHCR officials, reflecting the depth of the strategic partnership, including:

  • Ms. Anne Mail, Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees

  • Dr. Ahmed Shoier, Manager of the Technical and Vocational Institute at the Academy

The day concluded with a job fair aimed at directly linking graduates with the labor market, reaffirming the Academy’s commitment to graduating qualified, job-ready professionals.
