AASTMT President Participation in the second phase of the Aid for Trade Initiative in the Arab Countries “Aftias 2”

H.E Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail Farag - President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) participated in the hypothetical symposium organized by the Islamic Development Bank Group on the role of the second phase of the Aid for Trade Initiative in the Arab Countries “Aftias 2” program in dealing with the negative effects of the Corona pandemic on trade in the Arab region, that was held under the auspices of the League of Arab States - Economic Affairs sector on Monday 24- 1- 2021, directly through the online platform (zoom application), as for the keen to develop trade relations between the countries of the Arab region, especially in light of the negative repercussions of the spread of the Corona pandemic, which negatively affected the movement of regional and international trade, in addition to the importance of the vital role that Arab financing institutions play in adopting initiatives to implement development projects that enhance joint Arab action and realize the hopes and aspirations of Arab peoples.
The session was held in the presence of H.E Mrs. Nevin Jameh - Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry, H.E Dr. Bandar Muhammad Hajjar - President of the Islamic Development Bank Group, H.E Ambassador Dr. Kamal Hassan Ali - League of Arab States Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Affairs, H.E Eng. Hani Sonbol - President of the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation and Chairman of “Aftias” Program, H.E Mr. Abdulmohsen Al-Khayal - Director Manager of the Saudi Export Program at the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), H.E Ambassador Saqr Abdullah Al-Muqbel - Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia to the World Trade Organization - Coordinator of the Arab group at the World Trade Organization, and H.E Prof. Dr. Abeer Al-Saadi - Adviser to the Minister of Trade and Industry for financing and development projects - Ministry`s contact for “Aftias” Program, in addition to the participation of H.E Heads and Representatives of Arab and local organizations, federations and institutions.
