The AAST-SNAME student section was established in May 2010, as an outcome of an agreement between AAST and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers SNAME in New Jersey - USA, where the purpose of the AAST-SNAME student section is to promote an interest in the marine industry among students and advance the art, science and practice of naval architecture, marine engineering, offshore engineering and other marine-related professions.
The AAST-SNAME student section organizes many tutorials for AAST marine engineering students ranging from marine engineering, naval architecture and offshore engineering, as the AAST-SNAME student section offers its student members scholarship funds for undergraduate and graduate studies in USA in naval architecture, marine engineering, ocean engineering and other marine fields. Members of the AAST-SNAME student section get updates on latest marine and offshore engineering technologies and free access to an extensive library and database of technical literature. They are also able to network with other marine engineers, naval architects and offshore engineers.
