AASTMT - Arab Women in Maritime Association "Cooperation"

In keeping with the role of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) as an exceptional leading educational institution in serving the Arab society, as well as giving visibility and recognition to the role women play as key resources for the maritime sector, H.E Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail Farag - AASTMT President and H.E Eng. Hessa Al Malek - Advisor to Minister of Maritime Transport Affairs, Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) - President of Arab Women in Maritime Association (AWIMA), signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between AASTMT and AWIMA, on Tuesday 5- 24- 2022, at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) headquarters in London, as to discuss the opportunities for women’s participation in the academic sector for supporting and strengthening the regional maritime sector.
AASTMT and AWIMA agreement comes within IMO’s efforts to achieve the worldwide gender equality in the maritime sector, as well as to achieve the fifth goal of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals of gender equality, and this cooperation will allow the two institutions to provide effective support for the development of AWIMA.
