AASTMT makes it to the Board of Governors at the World Maritime University

Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghafar, President of AASTMT was selected by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to serve on the Board of Governors for the World Maritime University (WMU), thus bringing back Egypt and the Arab World to its significant position at this distinguished organization. The WMU Board of Governors comprises not more than 30 appointed members worldwide with regard to the background, expertise, and motivation of those distinguished persons and their affiliated organizations/educational and research institutions/governments. Prof Ismail is the only Arab board member.
His Excellency, Mr. Koji Sekimizu, Secretary General of IMO wrote to Prof Ismail:
"Following various fruitful contacts between IMO, the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport and the Government of Egypt, and in view of your considerable knowledge and experience in maritime education and administration, I would like to invite you to bring your valuable perspective to the governance arrangements for WMU by becoming a member of its Board of Governors"
