As part of the continuous emphasis by Professor Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar, President of the Arab Academy, on ensuring that the Academy's students acquire scientific and practical skills, and gain firsthand exposure to practices actually adopted in the labor market, a field visit was organized today, Tuesday, March 7, 2023. After the approval of Professor Dr. Ashraf Adel Labib, Dean of the College of Management and Technology, who is keen to maximize the benefit for students and follow global quality standards in education, the Department of Marketing and International Business, headed by Dr. Ayman Hassan Metwally, organized the visit.
The visit was to Al-Saad Fruit Company for Import and Export, one of the leading companies in the field of exporting agricultural products with a capacity of 400 tons per day, exporting Egyptian products to more than 40 countries worldwide according to the highest global quality standards. The aim was to apply the academic curriculum practically.
During the visit, Dr. Mahmoud El-Beshbishy, Assistant Lecturer and member of the Board of Industry Leaders, explained in detail how the company's production stages are linked to the academic curriculum. The students observed all production stages, from the raw materials used to the production stages, transportation, storage, export, and the final product, as well as the shipping methods to customers in various countries and the marketing means.
The visit began with a warm reception by Dr. Abdel Kader Gouda, Chairman of Al-Saad Fruit Company for Import and Export. The students then visited the farms and production stages in groups to ensure their safety, accompanied by Dr. Mahmoud El-Beshbishy. The students expressed their great happiness and enjoyment of the practical side and its connection to the curriculum.
It is worth noting that the College of Management and Technology in Alexandria has obtained the prestigious global accreditation for management colleges, AACSB.
At the end of the day, group photos were taken, and the students returned to the Academy's campus in Alexandria by bus.
This visit also aimed to encourage local farmers and food producers to engage with students and share valuable knowledge about food security. It highlighted the importance of sourcing locally and sustainably, contributing to a deeper understanding of the role of farmland, crop agriculture, and agribusiness in ensuring food security. During the visit, students had the opportunity to explore how organic agricultural practices and the dietary approaches used by farmers contribute to building a healthy and sustainable food system. This hands-on experience emphasized the importance of supporting local agriculture and its impact on both the economy and public health.
