The Advisory Council of the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology in New Cairo convened under the chairmanship of His Excellency Professor Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar, President of the Academy, with the participation of a distinguished group of public figures, industry leaders, and experts in communication and information technology.
The council had the honor of hosting Dr. Yousry El-Gamal, former Minister of Education and Advisor to the Academy President; His Excellency Dr. Alaa Fahmy, former Minister of Transport and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Egyptian University for E-Learning; and Major General Mohamed El-Shahat, former Assistant Minister of Defense, former Head of Military Intelligence, and Senior Advisor to Sama Petroleum and Maritime Services. Also in attendance were Professor Dr. Sherif Sedky, CEO of the Egyptian Space Agency; Professor Dr. Heba Saleh, President of the Information Technology Institute (ITI) at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology; Professor Dr. Abdel Moneim El-Sharkawy, President of the National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities; and Professor Dr. Mohamed Abou Rizka, Dean of the Faculty.
Several distinguished specialists from the field also participated, including Engineer Gamal Shenouda, CEO of HITS Solutions; Engineer Alaa Saad, CEO of ARIA Technologies; Engineer Wael Ali, Chief Technology Officer of CYshield; and Engineer Mohamed El-Fateh, CEO and Managing Director of ZINAD IT. Additionally, the meeting was attended by Professor Dr. Mohamed El-Hamahmy, Senior Expert at the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority's Center of Experts; Engineer Ahmed Mehran, Member of the Cairo Engineers Syndicate Council and Head of the Communications and Information Committee; and Professor Dr. Abdel Fattah Hegazy, former Dean of the Faculty, along with faculty members and representatives of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The meeting commenced with a welcoming speech by Professor Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar, President of the Academy, followed by a comprehensive presentation by Professor Dr. Mohamed Abou Rezeqa, Dean of the Faculty. The presentation highlighted the faculty’s significant achievements, including the growth in student numbers and the introduction of new academic programs aligned with labor market demands both locally and internationally. It also covered scientific and research projects, national and international accreditation programs—such as accreditation from the Supreme Council of Universities and ABET—as well as partnerships with global universities and specialized IT companies.
The meeting featured productive discussions on enhancing collaboration between the faculty and industry in the fields of training and scientific research, as well as strategies to bridge the gap between academic studies and specialized practical training. The council also discussed the application for accreditation of the cybersecurity program by ABET, with attendees praising the faculty’s high standards and continuous efforts to achieve academic excellence.
The meeting concluded with the signing of cooperation agreements between the Academy and CYshield for cybersecurity, Sama Petroleum Services, and the National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities. These agreements aim to enhance training and employment opportunities for students and graduates
