Diplomatic representation between the Arab Republic of Egypt and Mauritius started in 1976.
Bilateral trade between the two countries has increased to a large extent in view of their common membership in the COMESA.
Egyptian exports accounted for 29% of Mauritius imports in 2005.Mutual Visits:
• From 18-24 May 2010, visit of Chancellor Mohamed al-Hawary to participate in the Commission of Peace and Security of COMESA and attend a workshop on early warning mechanism.
• On 5/5/2010, participation of MP Mamdouh Hosni Khalil in the Pan African Parliament mission to monitor elections in Mauritius.
• From 27/2/2010 to 5/3/2010, visit of the delegation of the money laundering unit at the Ministry of Justice.
• From 25 to 29 January 2010, visit of the delegation of Egyptian Tax Authority and signing an agreement on avoidance of double taxation and prevent tax evasion on income.
• From 1 to 16 May 2009, visit of Expert in experimental theater Hany Matawy.
• From 15 to 18 November 2008, visit of Secretary-General of the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with Africa Ambassador Nevin Alashmawy.
• From 5 to 8 November 2008, visit of Assistant Foreign Minister for African Affairs and African Union Affairs Ambassador Mona Omar where she met with the foreign minister, finance and tourism ministers to discuss ways to push forward the relations between the two countries and the revival of agreements and memoranda of understanding signed between the two countries.
• From 8 to 13 December 2007, visit of former Mayor of the City of Port Louis Ahmed Reda Mamadou to sign a twinning agreement between the cities of Alexandria and Port Louis.
• In December 2007, visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Madan Dallo upon an invitation by former Foreign Minister to participate in the Ministerial Conference held in Sharm El-Sheikh to prepare for the African European summit , which was held in Lisbon.
• From 7 to 11 November 2007, participation of a delegation of the Egyptian Body building team in the African Championship for Young Men and teachers, where Egypt won the first place.
• From 28/10/2007 to 3/11/2007, visit of Mauritius Minister for Women, Children and Social Development to Egypt to participate in the Review Conference of the African Common Position on Children.
• From 5/8/2007 to 11/8/2007, visit of envoy by the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with Africa.
• In July 2007, visit of Deputy Prime Minister of the Mauritian Ministery of Tourism at the invitation of former Minister of Tourism to promote and develop tourism cooperation between the two countries.
• In June 2007, the visit of Assistant Foreign Minister for African Affairs Ambassador Masoum Marzouk within the framework of an African tour where he met with senior ministers to boost relations between the two countries in various fields.
• From 19 to 24 March 2007, the official visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Madan Dallo to Egypt, where he met with the Minister of Foreign affairs and with the ministers of industry and international cooperation.
• In January 2007, visit of Secretary General of the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with Africa Ambassador Tarek Ghoneim.
• From 26/9/2006 to 15/12/2006, visit of archaeologist Ibrahim Metwally at the invitation of the Mauritian side to boost cultural exchange between Egypt and Mauritius in the field of sunken ships.
• From 10 to 14 September 2006, visit of the delegation of Egyptian Tax Authority to sign a bilateral agreement between Egypt and Mauritius in the field of double taxation on a proposal Mauritian side.
• From 4 to 7 September 2006, visit of Adviser of the Minister of Justice Chancellor Ihab Maher Sonbaty to participate in the meeting of the COMESA Ministers of Justice.
• From 6 to 9 December 2005, visit of Secretary-General of the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with Africa Ambassador Afaf Almaraziqy to represent Egypt at a conference of donor countries to the Comoros where she met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
• From 6 to 8 October 2005, Assistant Foreign Minister for African affairs Ambassador Mohamed Hegazy visited Mauritius, where he met with the Mauritian Minister of Health, and Mauritian Foreign Secretary.Contractual Framework
