Alexandria Celebrates Its First Female AI Graduate on National Day

As part of its National Day celebrations, Alexandria honored Salma Fawzy, an alumna of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT), who earned her Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence from Dalian Maritime University in China.

The ceremony was attended by H.E. Admiral Ahmed Khaled, Governor of Alexandria, and H.E. Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail Farag, President of AASTMT, along with distinguished public figures and members of the diplomatic and consular corps.

Salma Fawzy stands as the first graduate of AASTMT’s College of Artificial Intelligence in Alamein City. She graduated top of her class with a Bachelor’s degree in AI, where she was named “Ideal Student” and was honored by H.E. Dr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, during her graduation ceremony.

During her Master’s studies in China, she was awarded “Best International Graduate Student” twice and has recently received a fully funded PhD scholarship from the University of Barcelona in Spain to continue her AI research in healthcare applications.

Beyond academics, Salma founded the AAST Robotics Club to promote innovation and technology among students, and launched the Sky Club (Skills Keep Youth) to enhance youth leadership, communication, and presentation skills. She has also represented women in technology on international stages, including speaking at UNESCO on International Women’s Day and participating in the Global Conference for Giftedness and Creativity in Saudi Arabia. Notably, she won 2nd place globally at Intel ISEF in the United States.

This achievement highlights AASTMT’s pioneering vision in establishing the first College of Artificial Intelligence in Egypt, reinforcing its role as a leading hub for innovation and future-driven education.
