Mostafa S. Hamad is a professor at Electrical and Control Engineering Department and currently he is the head of the Research and Development Center, Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT). He obtained the PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from Strathclyde University, UK, in 2009 and the BSc and the MSc degree from Alexandria University, Egypt, in 1999 and 2003, respectively. He acts as a peer-reviewer for a number of academic journals and he is the Chairman of the IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS) – Egypt Chapter, since 2021. Mostafa is a co-founder of the MSc program in Electrical Smart Grid Engineering, 2019. In addition to the academic field, good experience has been gained in the industry field. He contributed in many engineering consultancies and projects for different private companies in Egypt working in fields of power quality and PV installations. In 2017, he became a certified energy manger by the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) – USA. In 2019, he became a certified Consultant of New and Renewable Energy Systems, by the Egyptian Engineering Syndicate. His research interests include Electric Machines and Drives and Power Electronics Applications in Power Quality, Electric Vehicles, Smart Grid, HVDC Transmission Systems, and Renewable Energy.
