Dr. Mohamed Kholief is a Professor of Computer Science at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport (Alexandria, Egypt). He obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Old Dominion University (USA) in August 2003. He obtained his MS and B.Sc. in Computer Science from Alexandria University (Egypt) in 1998 and 1991 respectively. Dr. Kholief is currently the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs at the College of Computing and Information Technology in AASTMT. He was previously the Head of the Information Systems Department and the Software Engineering Department, and Before that the Head of the Computer Science and the Multimedia and Computer Graphics Departments. Dr. Kholief used to work for California University of Pennsylvania and was an Adjunct faculty at the Computer Science Department, Virginia Tech University, USA. Dr. Kholief taught many Computer Science courses throughout his career, including: Database Systems, Structure of Programming Languages, Data Structures, Object-oriented Programming at the undergraduate level, and Advanced Database Systems and Theory of Programming Languages at the graduate level. He has more than 80 research publications at various journals/conferences in the areas of: Data Analytics, Machine and Deep Learning, Digital Libraries, Information Retrieval, Software Engineering, and Natural Language Processing. He supervised/is supervising more than 50 graduate students at both the MS and Ph.D. levels. Dr. Kholief has participated in many funded research projects while he was in the United States and after returning to Egypt. He received funding from ITIDA, VTMENA's SmartCI center at Alexandria University, Qatar Foundation, and California University of Pennsylvania. He has also participated in projects funded by NSF and NASA.
