Dr. Mohamed Kholief is a Professor of Computer Science at the College of Computing and Information Technology, Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), Egypt. He currently serves as Dean of Academic Affairs at the Academy’s Port Said Branch. Dr. Kholief has extensive experience in academic leadership and university administration. Prior to his current appointment, he served as Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs at the College of Computing and Information Technology at AASTMT’s main campus in Alexandria. He previously headed several academic departments within the College, contributing to academic administration, curriculum development, and the advancement of computing education. His international academic experience includes appointments as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Virginia Tech and a full-time Assistant Professor at California University of Pennsylvania, USA. Dr. Kholief received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia, USA, and his M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees in Computer Science from Alexandria University, Egypt. Throughout his academic career, Dr. Kholief has taught a broad range of undergraduate and graduate courses, including Theory of Programming Languages, Database Systems, Advanced Database Systems, Introduction to Data Science, Big Data Analytics, Data Mining, Data Structures and Algorithms, Object-Oriented Programming, and Computer Organization. His research interests encompass Digital Libraries, Semantic Web Technologies and Applications, Software Engineering, Big Data Analytics, and Bioinformatics, with Data Analytics being his primary current research focus. Over the past 25 years, he has authored or co-authored more than 90 research publications. Dr. Kholief has extensive experience in graduate research supervision, having supervised or currently supervising more than 60 Ph.D. and master’s students. His research activities have received support through grants from the SmartCI Research Center at Alexandria University, the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), and the Qatar Foundation. His academic career reflects a sustained commitment to excellence in higher education, academic leadership, scientific research, and the development of future generations of computer scientists and information technology professionals.
