My experience of English language studies as an undergraduate student of English studies and literature has provided me with a practical understanding of different linguistic texts and contexts. After graduation, involvement in the study of Applied Linguistics has developed my research skills. All the time I look forward to refining these skills and extending my experience in covering new strands and areas of research. As a postgraduate student of Applied Linguistics, I have become increasingly aware of the influence of the different theories and approaches on English studies and text analysis. I appreciated the input of Systemic Functional Linguistics, Semantics, and Pragmatics which have enhanced my understanding of how language can create and produce meanings. Studying Applied Linguistics has enabled me to understand the many aspects of human communication in which we can negotiate and establish identity. It also contributed to exploring several contemporary issues related to language learning, analysis, interpretation, and teaching. My twenty-six-year teaching experience has also contributed to developing my passion, as a university instructor, for teaching utilizing teaching methodologies, lesson planning, material development, and assessment. As a result, I have improved my teaching voice, confidence, and classroom management skills. I led many training workshops based on teachers’ knowledge in instruction for students with different learning styles and needs. Throughout my teaching experience, I have tried to create a sustainable learning environment in which all learners obtain the instructional content equally with trust and respect and in a safe way to learn, explore, perform, and take risks. I have motivated students to increase their interests, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills by supplying motivating tasks and activities.
