biography

Nada Al-Haytham is an accomplished media professional, researcher, and academic with a strong background in media studies and communication. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Language and Mass Communication from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport, graduating with a distinguished GPA of 3.94. Her academic journey reflects her dedication to exploring complex societal themes, with a graduation project titled Social Ad "The Egyptian Portrait", which delved into the interplay of culture and identity. Nada’s research focuses on the evolving dynamics of identity in the digital age. She has conducted extensive studies on the relationship between Instagram and the prevalence of fake identities among youth, a subject she further explores through her documentary projects that critique Egyptian stereotypes. Her Master’s thesis, a cornerstone of her academic pursuits, provides a deep examination of "fake news" and its role in the consumption and dissemination of misinformation and disinformation. Her professional experience spans roles such as Graduate Teaching Assistant at the Media Department, College of Language and Communication, AASTMT, and as a Media Coordinator at Global Trade Matters (2020–2021). Nada has also contributed as a reporter for Dream TV Channel and engaged in dubbing work for Disney’s Toy Story 2. Nada is deeply committed to media advocacy and creative storytelling. Her student activities include organizing media conferences and providing media coverage for high-profile events such as the Alexandria Film Festival. She also produced impactful documentaries, such as Fake News, Diversity in Religions in Canada, and Dancing in Canada. Her short film, Karma, and her exhibition, I’m the Artwork… I’m the Message, are testaments to her artistic expression and societal engagement. Beyond her academic and professional endeavors, Nada is skilled in a range of technical and creative capacities, including video editing, photography, voiceover, and web design. She is proficient in industry-standard tools such as Adobe Premiere and Illustrator and has a proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
