Captain Ahmed Ismail is the Vice Dean for Foreign Affairs at the Maritime Safety Institute, Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT). A Master Mariner with extensive seafaring and offshore experience, he has served as a Marine Lecturer since 2021, delivering STCW and OPITO-approved courses and training seafarers from across the region and Africa. He holds a Master of Science in Maritime Energy Management from the World Maritime University (Sweden) and has published in leading international journals, focusing on sustainable shipping, green shipping corridors, and energy transition in ports. His research addresses decarbonization pathways, maritime safety, and future skills for the industry. Captain Ahmed actively represents AASTMT in regional and international forums, including OPITO and IMO-related activities, and contributes to strengthening partnerships with global maritime organizations. His career reflects a strong commitment to advancing maritime safety, professional training, and sustainable development in the maritime and oil & gas sectors.
