biography

I am a dedicated researcher and assistant lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering, with a strong background in electrical and control engineering. I graduated from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport, Department of Electrical and Control Engineering, in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science degree, achieving a GPA of 3.96. In 2019, I embarked on my Master of Science journey, focusing on fuzzy logic and robotics. I successfully completed my master’s degree in 2024. My research interests extend to renewable energy and control engineering, areas in which I am passionate about making significant contributions. I am fluent in English and French, both written and spoken, and have a good command of German and basic command of Italian and Turkish.

This thesis presents a novel approach to fuzzy logic control by introducing the sinusoidal membership function (MF) as an alternative to traditional MF types, such as triangular and Gaussian. The research aims to explore the potential benefits of the sinusoidal MF in terms of balancing accuracy, simplicity, and computational efficiency. After a comprehensive literature review comparing the performance of existing MF approaches, the sinusoidal MF is mathematically formulated and evaluated through simulations and hardware implementation. The sinusoidal MF-based fuzzy PI controller is then applied to the speed control of a 3-wheel omnidirectional robot, demonstrating its effectiveness in addressing nonlinearities in mobile robot systems. The findings of this work contribute to the advancement of fuzzy control systems, particularly in robotics and other complex applications.
