Captain Tamer Mohamed Hashem Abd El-Mohsen is a maritime professional and lecturer at the College of Maritime Transport and Technology, AASTMT. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Transport and Nautical Technology (2001) and a Master Mariner (Unlimited) License (2008), supported by extensive STCW-compliant certifications, including GMDSS, ECDIS (Operational & Management levels), Radar/ARPA, Advanced Firefighting, and Ship Security Officer. With more than 20 years of seagoing experience, Captain Tamer served on container and tanker vessels with major international companies such as UASC and Hapag-Lloyd AG, progressing from Third Officer to Chief Officer. He also worked as Ship Manager – Marine Operations at UASC in Dubai, specializing in cargo stowage and vessel planning. Since 2018, he has been part of AASTMT’s academic staff, teaching key maritime subjects including Watchkeeping & Marine Communication, Integrated Navigation Systems, Voyage Planning, Maritime Law & Leadership, Seamanship, and Maritime Safety & Environmental Protection. He also contributes to simulator training across navigation, safety, and emergency response. Captain Tamer’s expertise spans maritime navigation, ship handling, marine communication, operational safety, and cadet training. He is fluent in Arabic and English (IELTS certified) and is known for his strong analytical skills, leadership, and professional commitment in both maritime operations and education.
