Dr. Sawsan Mokhtar is a Ph.D. graduate of Alexandria University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Alexandria, Egypt. She completed her doctoral thesis in 2025, entitled “An Approach to Evaluate the Pedestrianization Potential of Commercial Streets,” focusing on urban mobility, walkability, and sustainable street design. She holds a Master of Science in Urban Planning and Design from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), with a thesis titled “An Assessment of the Built Environment in Correlation with Residents’ Physical Activity,” and a Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering and Environmental Design from AASTMT. Dr. Mokhtar is a Lecturer at AASTMT, with over 12 years of experience teaching architecture, urban planning, and urban design courses. She is RIBA Part 1 and Part 2 certified, a licensed Professional Architect with the Society of Egyptian Architects, and a licensed Professional Engineer with the Egyptian Engineers Syndicate. She is currently a member of AASTMT’s technical team for the Erasmus+ Pro-Green Labs project and has previously contributed to an awarded Erasmus+ UPGRADE project. Her research interests include urban planning, urban design, built environment interventions, and travel behavior.
