Dr. Manar Mohamed Hafez Mahmoud is an Assistant Professor in the Software Engineering Department at the College of Computing and Information Technology, Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, Egypt. She currently also serves as Head of Quality Assurance in the same department. Dr. Hafez received her Ph.D. in Information Technology and Communications from the University of Vigo, Spain, in 2021. Her doctoral research focused on intelligent data analysis and recommender systems, particularly in e-commerce environments. Prior to that, she obtained her Master’s degree in Information Systems and B.Sc. in Software Engineering from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, graduating ranked first in her major. Her research interests include Machine Learning, Big Data Analytics, Recommender Systems, Data Science, E-commerce Analytics, and Information Retrieval. Dr. Hafez has published several peer-reviewed papers in international journals and conferences, addressing topics such as AI-based social media analysis, recommender systems, and machine learning optimization techniques. Her work includes studies on AI systems for detecting sexist content in social media, multi-criteria recommendation systems for online grocery platforms, and self-tuning decision tree algorithms for big data analytics. Alongside her research, Dr. Hafez has extensive teaching experience across undergraduate and postgraduate programs. She has taught a wide range of courses including Software Engineering, Data Science, Big Data, Information Retrieval, Software Quality Assurance, Advanced Database Systems, Computer Security, and Human–Computer Interaction. Dr. Hafez is actively involved in academic service, curriculum development, and quality assurance initiatives aimed at improving computing education and research innovation. Her work bridges academic research and practical applications of artificial intelligence and data analytics in digital platforms and large-scale data environments.
