biography

Dr. Amira Senbel is a Professor of Pharmacology & Toxicology, College of Pharmacy, and currently holds the position of Vice-Dean for Educational Affairs, and Vice-Dean for Training and Community Service at College of Pharmacy, Arab Academy for Sciences and Technology, Alexandria, Egypt. Dr. Senbel is graduated from Faculty of Pharmacy Alexandria University (AU)in 1998. She was appointed as Academic staff Assistant at Faculty of Pharmacy AU in 1999 and got her full Professorship in 2017. Dr. Senbel has more than 10 years-experience in Quality Assurance, Accreditation and strategic planning in Higher Education she held the position of Deputy Director of the Quality Assurance Center (AU) managing and auditing the implementation of highest academic (education, research and facilities) standards in all Faculties and Research Institutes of AU. Prof. Senbel won the prestigious “L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Sciences” Fellowship prize in 2013, as well as various national and international awards during her career path. Her biography is included in “Who's Who in the World” and in “2000 Outstanding Intellectuals of the 21th Century”, Cambridge, England, as well as “Women of Egypt”, 2017. Vascular and smooth muscle Pharmacology and Toxicology is her major scientific research interest. She worked as a research scientist at Imperial College London, University of Rome 1, and INSERM U1148 University Paris 13. She also served as Scientific advisor at the "Pharmaceutical Services Unit, AU” dealing with the study of pharmacological activity and toxicity profile as well as toxicological and clinical expert reports of Egyptian pharmaceutical products. She is an active member of many national and international scientific Societies such as the prestigious British Pharmacological Society (BPS), and International Society for the Study of Xenobiotics (ISSX). She is the author of more than 40 publications in international peer-reviewed journals as full-text articles and conference presentations. She is a scientific reviewer for Biovision- Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Science Technology and Development Fund (STDF), L’Oreal Unesco Young Talents Sub-Saharan Fellowship- Africa, as well as for many highly-ranked international journals.
