Prof. Ossama Ismail is the Founding Dean of the "Regional Informatics Center" at AAST, The idea of establishing the Regional Informatics Center (RIC) originated from the desire to catch up with the advanced development in fields of Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and Competitive Programming, The main purpose to help in promoting the minds and talents of the MENA region students and the necessity of creating a broad base of distinguished students who can catch up with the increasing acceleration in the development of Informatics and Robotics worldwide. Prof. Ossama holds many positions at distinguished scientific conferences and competitions including not limited to: o Egypt's Minister of Education Technical Advisor, Egypt (2005-2010). o World Finals Deputy Director of the ACM-ICPC 2011, Orlando, FL, USA. o Chairman of the Host Scientific committee of the International Olympiad in Informatics IOI-2008. Cairo, Egypt, August 2008. o Vice Chair of the Computer Scientific Society (2006 – present) o ACM-ACPC, Super Regional Contest Director for Middle East and North Africa, May-2014 – present. o ACM-ACPC, Regional Contest Director for Middle East and North Africa, May2011 – 2014. o Site Director of the First, second, and the Thirsd ROV Egyptian Completion (Remotely Operated Vehicle) contest 2011, 2012, 2013 –, Alexandria, Egypt. o Site Director of the ACM-ANARC 2007, 2008, and 2009. Alexandria, Egypt. o Member of the International Committee of the International Olympiad in informatics (IOI), Poland 2005. o Member of the International Editorial Board, Journal of Informatics in Education, Institute of Mathematics and Informatics, Lithuanian Academy of SciencesVILNIUS, 2000 - Present. o Executive Director of the First Egyptian Robotics contest (Hunter & Hunted) for Students under 15 years old. A joined work between the Arab Academy for Science and Technology, British Council in Egypt, and Sheffield University -GB, Feb 2005. o Executive director and head of the scientific committee of the Egyptian Olympiad in Informatics EOI in years 2003 – Present. o Team Supervisor, won Robocon-Egypt Contests in Years 2002, 2003, 2004. 2006 won a special prize form MABUCHI MOTOR – JAPAN, KL-Malaysia. 2006 won 1st and 2nd places in Robocon Egypt 2006. 2006 won 1st and 2nd places in Robocon Egypt 2006. 2005 won 2nd and 3rd places in Robocon Egypt 2005. 2004 won 1st, 4th places in Robocon Egypt 2004. 2003 won 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in Robocon Egypt 2003. 2002 won 2nd place in Robocon Egypt 2002. o Team coach of the AAST team, won the 1st place and the Solid Programmer award in ACM International Collegiate Regional Programming Contest ACM-ANARC 2006, Morocco. o Team leader of the AAST team, won the 3rd place and the Solid Programmer award in the ACM International Collegiate Regional Programming Contest. ANARC 2005, Kuwait. o Team leader of the AAST team, won the 5th place and the Solid Programmer award in the ACM International Collegiate Regional Programming Contest. ANARC 2004, Kuwait. o Team leader of the AAST team, won the 3rd place in the ACM International Collegiate Regional Programming Contest. ANARC 2003, Kuwait 2003. o Team leader of the Egyptian team in the International Olympiad in Informatics contests (IOI) for years 2000, 20001, 2002, 2003,2004,2005,2006, and 2007. o Program vice Chair, IEEE International Conference on Computer theory and applications, Alexandria 2005 and 2006. Prof. Ossama is currently The president's Advisor for Informatics and International Competitions and the Regional Contest Director of the International Collegiate Programming Contest in the Middle East & Africa, Also the Chairman of ROV Under the auspices of Marine Advanced Technology Institute and is a board member at EOI, IOI, ROV, ICPC, ACPC.
