biography

Alia Algazzar has graduated from the Law school Alexandria University in 2008. . Upon her graduation she worked as an Operations department officer in the Arab Shipping and Trading Groups shipping agency. She got a Diploma in Maritime Law at the Arab Academy for Science Technology and Maritime Transport in 2009. Recently she works as an Assistant Lecturer in the Arab Academy for Science Technology and Maritime Transport. She acts as a coordinator for the law courses at her College for English department students. She received her Master's Degree on International Maritime Law at the International Maritime Law Institute which is established under the auspicious of the International Maritime Organization, United Nations. She was awarded the Neptune Orient Lines Prize for Best Overall Performance after being the sole candidate who has been, that year, awarded a full scholarship for this Programme by the Regional Marine Pollution Emergency Response Centre for the Mediterranean Sea (REMPEC), under its Euro-med Cooperation on Maritime Safety and Prevention of Pollution from Ships-SAFEMED-Project. After her Masters Degree she has been nominated as the Secretary General of the Arab Society for Commercial and Maritime Law (ASCML). She has underwent many courses in International Commercial Arbitration at the Cologne Academies, Germany, and Cairo Regional Center for International Commercial Arbitration, Egypt after which she has raised and coached the first Egyptian team to participate in the 19th Willem C. Vis moot Competition. She got a scholarship from the Hague Academy for International Law, the Netherlands. Further, she has been awarded a scholarship from the Arbitration Academy, Paris. Ms. Algazzar conducted a research on the Interrelation between the Carriage of Goods by Sea Conventions. She made a legal drafting project for the incorporation of the HNS Convention 2010 to the Egyptian Law. In the summer od the year 2012, she has been awarded two scholarships for two training courses, one at the Arbitration Academy and the other at the Hague Academy for International Law. Finally now she is a PhD candidate.
