Dr. Mohamed Youssef Omar is currently the Head of the Scientific Projects Management Department - Scientific Research Deanery at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT). Dr. Omar has obtained the BSc from the Faculty of Science, Chemistry Department 1992 with very good with honor, in 1999 he has got a scholarship from the Environmental Research Institute in the University of Connecticut at USA. Dr. Omar has achieved the MSc from Environmental Protection Department at AASTMT 2004, finally PhD from Environmental Sciences Department at Columbus University 2010. He has got many certified professional training courses in various fields as a national and international professional trainer/instructor for Instrumental Analysis, Oil Identification Technology, Crisis Management, Contingency planning, GIS, Risk Assessment, Simulation and Modeling. Dr. Omar teaches Introduction to Environmental sciences, Ecological Risk Assessment and Environmental Modeling at the Environmental Sciences Department, Faculty of Science, Alexandria University, and He teaches Applied Chemistry (principles of corrosion), Instrumental Analysis, Oil Spill Response, Environmental Crisis Management, Geographic information system (GIS) at the College of Engineering at AASTMT. Dr. Omar is a formal consultant to the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA) in the field of Quantitative Environmental Risk Assessment and Management. He is a permanent member for the Egyptian National Oil Spill Contingency Plan committee at the EEAA. Moreover, he is the lead consultant for the Regional Marine Pollution Emergency Response Centre for the Mediterranean Sea (REMPEC) for the Preparation of the National Action Plan (NAP) of Egypt for the implementation of the Regional Strategy (2016-2021). Dr. Omar is also a lead consultant for the Regional Organization for the Conservation of the Environment of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden (PERSGA) for the following activities: (i) Assessment, Preparation and Presentation of the Regional Action Plan for the FSO SAFER, (ii) Developing Regional guidelines and policy on the use of dispersants. Dr. Omar contributes in many national and international scientific research projects, in addition to the Environmental Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) studies. Dr. Omar has multiple scientific activities in the supervision and judgement of many graduation projects, master degrees and PhD degrees as well. He has published scientific papers in different international journals and conferences.
