**Praise be to God**, the scientific field trip to **Jet Solar Company** for students of the Department of Electrical and Control Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology – Main Campus, Abu Qir, was successfully conducted on **Wednesday, April 22, 2026**. This visit was organized within the framework of supporting the deliverables of GreenOlive Project to raise awarness and practical learning of students' expertise in the field of renewable energy .
The trip was supervised by:
✨ **Prof. Dr. Ahmed Kodry** – Professor, Department of Electrical and Control Engineering
✨ **Dr. Omnia Darwish** – Sustainable Development Manager
✨ **Pharmacist/Mariam Helmy** – Teaching Assistant, Faculty of Pharmacy, and Coordinator of the AASTMT Sustainability Ambassadors Club
Along with student representatives from the **AASTMT Sustainability Ambassadors** across various faculties.
The visit began with an **introductory lecture** delivered by the company's engineers, which covered:
- Categories of companies operating in the solar energy market in Egypt
- The nature of their operations within the Egyptian market
- Methods for connecting solar panel systems to the electrical grid
- A review of prominent career opportunities available within solar energy companies
Following the lecture, students embarked on a **guided field tour** inside the factory, where they observed the various stages of solar panel manufacturing, including:
- Assembly of panel components
- Cleaning of glass panels to remove impurities
- Cell interconnection and soldering processes
- Final product assembly and packaging
The tour also included explanations of the **key quality and efficiency tests** performed on solar panels, such as:
- **Open Circuit Voltage Test (Voc)**
- **Short Circuit Current Test (Isc)**
Additionally, engineers clarified the **technical differences between Monocrystalline (Mono) and Polycrystalline (Poly) solar panels** in terms of performance, efficiency, and application suitability.
The visit witnessed **fruitful interaction** between students and the company's engineers, contributing to strengthening practical understanding and bridging theoretical concepts with real-world applications in the job market.
At the conclusion of the visit, the Department of Electrical and Control Engineering extends its **sincere gratitude and appreciation** to **Jet Solar Company** for their warm hospitality and excellent organization. The department also highly acknowledges the efforts of the **Cultural Activities Club** at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology in Abu Qir, as well as the **AASTMT Sustainability Ambassadors**, for their effective role in organizing this visit and providing this valuable opportunity for students.
