The aim of the unit is to orient students to take the necessary presentive and protective measures and monitor their own health judiciously and remain home (while contacting their health provider) if they develop symptoms consistent with COVID-19 – dry cough, fever and body aches. The Unit will also monitor the ongoing academic situation, urge students to activate their academic emails and provide all other contact details for future correspondences, come up with alternatives that ensure CLC remains open and operational with appropriate measures to protect the health of its community, and plan forseveral contingency scenarios that ensure the continuity of CLC teaching and research mission.
All CLC faculty and staff members have attended a series of workshops on how to use Moodle Platform in online teaching and connecting with students. The goal of these workshops was to provide practical and specific guidance, hands-on training and tools they will need to prepare classes for this temporary transition to online instruction. The workshops included information for those just beginning to use technology tools, as well as content tailored to more advanced users. In parallel, CLC organized an orientation session delivered by Dr. Yasser El Shamy, Vice Dean for Education and Students Affairs. All full-time and part-time faculty and staff were urged to dedicate 10 minutes at the start of their classes orienting students in this regard.
