"FabUrb" project - “Fabub” is the theme of a project that Samir El Kordy is spearheading to manifest in an installation as part of "The future of tradition – the tradition of future" group exhibitions at Munich. - I took part in the following: - Shared in the field research stage as part of Cairo research team. - Involved on the data collection and analysis of new cairo city. (maps, articles, videos, photos) - Assembled a survey list of all the new compounds in New Cairo. - Studied the billboards for the visual identity (logos, use of typography, slogans, figures, visual language, etc.) as well as tracing elements from the corporate identities. - Synopsis of the show "The future of tradition – the tradition of future" is expositions collectives hosted by Art house, Haus der Kunst Munich, dedicated to Arab world and took place from 17 September 2010 to 09 January 2011. It celebrated 100 years after the exhibition ‘masterpieces of Muhammadan art’ in Munich recalling this epoch-making show with an important change in view: It not only included contemporary art, design, photography, architecture and fashion, but also provides artists and institutions from the region to take part in the exhibition with their own concepts. - Synopsis of the "Faburb " This project deals with new cities & patterns, logics and the psychology of urban expansion in New Cairo and New Damascus in attempt to map the uniquelly/generally hybrid manifestations of New Cairo city & New Damascus urban modernization. The main idea is that by separating studying the different visual elements, we may be able to analyze the logic and typology that these companies use to communicate to attract potential buyers. This material constitutes one strand of several strategies that was manifested in visual material that was shown in the exhibition in the form of panels, slideshows, texts and postcards. - Faburb received a partial fund from Prince Claus Foundation - Holland for the book production.
